About Us
We believe trees belong right where they are – standing proud amongst their peers while playing landlord to local wildlife. But eventually, each and every one of these O.G throwers of shade will fall the way nature intended – to make room for a strip mall.
We kid. But occasionally the noble organisms have to come down for safety purposes or economic progress.
With them go their stories – moms pushing kids on tire swings, dads building tree houses and the inevitable fractured bones that result from both.
Those stories shouldn’t end up in a landfill. They can and should live on.
So, we take locally felled trees and wood products, make things from them and try to have some fun along the way.
SustainABILITY
That there is known as a portmanteau – the blending of two or more words, or parts of words, such that the portmanteau expresses a combination of the of its parts. (And you thought this was just a site about things made of locally-sourced wood.)
Besides boosting your local economy, locally sourced products can also boost your sustainability street cred. That’s because using sustainable materials is a major part of LEED, the gold standard for rating green buildings.
Who was Stanley?
My Grandfather, Stanley Rogers was a man who loved two things; carpentry and the New York Football Giants. After serving in North Africa and Italy during WWII, he purchased a plot of land in Bloomingdale, NJ and built a home with plans he purchased from a Sears catalog. There he and his wife, Betty raised three kids and hosted countless pool parties for their six grandchildren. The house still stands today.
His love of building things from wood (mostly cherry) never wavered. Nor did his love for the Giants.
